Ridgewood resident Benjamin Sanders surrendered himself into police custody on Thursday afternoon following reports that he violated a Westchester County Family Court Temporary Order of Protection by texting and calling his victim repeatedly earlier this month.
Investigators from the Yorktown Police Department received a complaint regarding a domestic incident involving Sanders on March 16. After taking the report from the victim, police said that it is alleged that Sanders attempted to contact his victim repeatedly. Sanders was later contacted by police regarding his violations, leading to his surrendering to officers this week.
Sanders was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on April 17 to answer the charge.
